How are you

Sound installation
The Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, April 2006

srpski
“How Are You” is the title of the piece which sprang from previously performed sound installation (2004) under the same title (www.mirnaarsovska.com.mk). The installation consisted of one photo poster with mountainous scenery, three red caps and the sound How are you heard from three CD- walks hidden under the caps. One segment of the installation – the sound How are you, was separated and its visualization, cleared to the core, without uttered audio recording, in the form of its computer picture in wav format, which was transferred from the computer program into a space “picture”, became the basis for the new piece. Any answer or comment is needless, especially since the reconstruction of the sound according to the picture, as well as its authenticity, are impossible. What I offer is sincerity.

Visual recording of audio sound How are you, made of copper wire and set between the piers of the gallery of The Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art, at the view height. The installation is up to 600mm high and about 3000mm long.

How are you is a recording which is understood in its recognizable meaning, but a recording which alienates in its etiquette, its formal sense.
This recognizable vocabulary of speaking manners is destroying, deconstructing the security of a public space. How are you should be an essential, non-speaking attitude towards a human being; it is a vibration, a feeling, a glance.
